so i upgraded ableton, from 5 to 8, and encountered a problem when i opened an old track...
basically, I have a sound that's arpeggiated and for some reason now it doesn't sound the same...it's lost the "groove" it had before...basically rendering it useless for the track...anybody have any suggestions on how to remedy this? is it even possible? or lost forever Crying or Very sad

you can usually install old copies of ableton alongside new ones...give that a go. (or maybe your old version is still installed, worth a check..i dont think upgrading overwrites it)

as long as you havent saved it in the new version (or at least have an untouched old copy) you might be able to get the sound back.

what synth/vst were you using? did you install an upgrade of that too?

ive been have these sorts of woes lately too both with logic and ableton, its really annoying! Smile

Hmmm, the vst is either peach or triforce (one of the nes vsts from tweakbench)…I remember updating a bunch of the vsts from that site a few months ago, but i’m pretty sure everything was working fine afterwards…I’ll double check, might still have the older versions…

Anyway, I don’t have the old version on my comp anymore, recently formatted it and installed a new OS…I should have the cd somewhere…if I install it, I can open ableton 5 separately, or will that mess up the 8’s settings and overwrite the files etc..? or should I just install it in a different folder all together then just delete it later? Sorry, feel really stupid asking all this, but its hot, ac’s busted at work, can barely think let alone type as well…oh yeah, and the fuckin fire alarm keeps going off every 5 mins for no apparent reason haha

as far as I know, you can install ableton 5, it won;t hurt your ableton 8 settings.

thats my experience though..

but don;t save your project in ableton 8, or you won;t be able to open it in an older version.
