1) Having to freeze tracks so you can actually hear your tune without it glitching. Drives me mental.

Sad

happened to a few of my tracks, and now I probably can't even finish them. Sad

when all your tracks start to sound the same

it doesn't mean you have a style

it just means you're not putting in enough effort, blart

Something strange is happening, mind you I'm still using version 6, but this happened again to another file I have been working on lately.

Definitely fustrating, however I somehow managed to fix the problem. I went through the preferences in Ableton and was fucking around, somehow the files worked. I wasn't sure if this has something to do with turning off the microprocessor or if it was restoring the "Don't Show Again" warnings.

My took my PC away with me to America, came back, and now the tracks that were glitching are working fine. It is like my pc has somehow gained 20% more processing power & memory.

It is all a bit strange but I am not complaining.

Thank you randon US wi-fi hotspots!

being as my craptop (sony quality - needs fixing for the 2nd time in 2 years) has a battery life of about 10 minutes now i put it on power save to squeeze it up to 15 if i need it on the go, then forget to turn it off and wonder why everything glitches to fuck.

tho when i read that ali i did think perhaps ableton 8 is a lot more cpu intensive than older versions - do you find that? i think i could throw a lot more in the way of vsts at cubase before it started to go mental.

I think each new version of ableton gets more and more processor intensive. I guess it is the nature of the beast as a program gets more advanced and developed. Plus they probably paid to make it that way by Intel.

Everytime I think my PC is cruising and I have eternal plugin power a new must-use, processor-hungry vst arrives and makes me dream of a new pc again.

shortly after posting that i also realised that my shiny new d16 drum machines, the 909 one especially, are pretty resource-hungry too.

tho i can still push cubase to about 80% cpu use before i get glitching whereas live seems to be happy up to about 60...

The D16 909 rules though and is worth the power-usage. The 808 is mint as well.

Their redoptor pre-amp is cool but 1 instance of that on its best quality setting uses 40% of my processor bar in ableton.

That said they are still my favourite vst company.
