What would a Music Hack Day for composers look like?
Something like that, it turns out. I organized one during my last year at UVic:
- composers meet at 0800
- composers select their performers
- composers started writing at 0900
- performers arrive at 1430
- Rehearsals start at 1500
- concert happens at 2000
It was astonishingly fun, not nearly as stressful as I thought (except for me writing a seven minute piece for piano, two voices, and accordion in under an hour), and basically a success in all ways. I can’t post the recordings now, as they’re on my other machine in Montreal, but they’ll be up eventually.
